Stockpile Inventory and Change Records
Stockpile tracking is a repeatability problem before it is a measurement problem. The same pile measured two ways gives two answers.
Overview
- Fix the pile boundary rule (toe of slope or retaining wall) and apply it identically every period.
- Active piles change daily; agree a cut-off time with the operator so the number has a stated as-of moment.
- Volume change split into consumption versus addition is far more useful to operations than a single total.
- Keep the surface mesh, not only the number, so a disputed figure can be re-examined.
