Field Testing and Data Collection
Field testing is where the requirements meet weather, ground and people. Plan it as a data collection exercise, not as a demonstration.
Overview
- Write the test plan with the conditions you expect, and record the conditions you actually got.
- Define what counts as a valid data point, and what invalidates a run.
- Book more field days than you think you need; weather is the single most common cause of a stalled programme.
- Bring the operators who will use it, not only the engineers who built it.
