Choosing an Imaging Payload
Imaging payload selection starts with the smallest feature you must resolve and the distance you can safely be from it.
Overview
- Derive the required focal length from the feature size, the distance and the sensor's pixel pitch.
- Ask for effective resolution at your working distance and zoom setting, not for the sensor's native resolution.
- Stabilisation and gimbal range matter for anything that is tracked or recorded as video.
- Confirm the output format: some inspection workflows need raw or radiometric data, not a compressed video stream.
