Ground Functional Checks
Ground checks are the cheapest opportunity to find a fault, and the last one before it becomes an airborne event.
Overview
- Check what can be checked without flying: control response, payload functions, link, failsafe behaviour, telemetry.
- Test the failure cases on the ground, not in the air — loss of link, loss of a payload, low battery behaviour.
- Record the results, including the ambient conditions, against the serial number.
- The unit is released for flight test only when every ground check has a recorded pass.
