Assembly and Configuration Management
Configuration management is what makes two units of the same model behave the same way — which is the whole point of having a model.
Overview
- The configuration baseline is frozen before build; every deviation is recorded with a reason and an approver.
- Firmware, software and hardware versions are recorded together as one released configuration.
- Assembly instructions and torque values are documented, and followed by whoever is on the bench that day.
- A unit that deviates from the baseline is not shipped as that model.
