On-Premise Deployment and Data Management
On-premise deployment is usually chosen for good reasons and then under-resourced. The data has to live somewhere, and someone has to run it.
Overview
- Specify the hardware, the operating environment and who administers it, in writing.
- Plan capacity for the retention period you have committed to, not for the first year's data.
- Backup and restore should be tested, not assumed — an untested backup is not a backup.
- Agree the update mechanism and the maintenance window with the customer's IT function.
