Marking Suspected Targets for Human Confirmation
A suspected target from the air is a request for confirmation, never a conclusion. The wording of the report matters as much as the detection itself.
Overview
- Report as "object observed at grid reference, requires ground confirmation" — with imagery and time attached.
- Priority ordering should reflect consequence and accessibility, not detection confidence alone.
- Avoid categorical language about identity; the aerial sensor rarely has the resolution or the angle to establish it.
- Close the loop: record what the ground confirmation found, including negative results, to calibrate future reports.
