Assisted Screening of Flood-Trapped Areas
Screening for trapped people in a flood is a high-consequence task with a low inherent detection rate. Honest scoping of what the sensor can and cannot see is part of the deliverable.
Overview
- People in water, under roofs or in vehicles are frequently not detectable; the method supports, it does not replace, ground and boat search.
- Systematic segment-by-segment coverage is more valuable than ad-hoc passes over obvious areas.
- Record which segments were observed and which were obstructed, so a negative result can be interpreted correctly.
- Coordinate tasking with the rescue service so that a reported location receives a response.
