Recording Search Area Coverage
Coverage recording is what turns a flown area into a search area. Without it, the same ground gets searched three times and a fourth tract never gets looked at.
Overview
- Record the sensor footprint, not the aircraft track; the two are not the same on sloped or wooded ground.
- Assign and record coverage by search segment so the picture can be handed over between teams and shifts.
- A coverage percentage should carry its definition with it — along-track, cross-track, or effective.
- Preserve coverage records even when nothing was found; that is their main use case.
