Measuring Business Value of AI Applications
The business case for detection is rarely the detection. It is the reduction of a cost that existed before, and that cost has to be measured first.
Overview
- Measure the current cost baseline before introducing anything: survey hours, site visits, time to find a defect.
- Compare against that baseline, not against an idealised future state.
- Include the review labour, the infrastructure and the maintenance in the running cost.
- A capability with no measured baseline cannot be shown to have paid for itself, however well it works.
