Screening Water Color Anomalies
Water colour anomalies are a screening signal for further sampling, not a water quality measurement. The distinction matters legally and scientifically.
Overview
- Output is a location list for sampling, in priority order, with the imagery that produced each flag.
- Colour is affected by sun angle, depth, suspended sediment and the sensor itself — normalise or state the conditions.
- Algal blooms, sediment plumes and shallow bottom reflectance can look similar from above.
- Never present a colour anomaly as a concentration value; only a laboratory or in-situ sensor can do that.
